Dubsado Certification Exam Advice

April 11, 2022

< back to blog home

At the end of 2021, Dubsado finally, officially, released their certification exam. If you take the exam, you become a Dubsado Certified Specialist, which gives you street cred, preferred placement in their directory, more marketing opportunities, and a huge confidence boost. I’m here to give you all of my Dubsado Certification Exam advice based on my experience.

For those who are planning to, or are considering, taking the Dubsado Certification Exam:

Here are some tips I think you should know based on MY experience taking the exam:

  1. Watch and pay attention to Dubsado’s Certification Exam Prep webinar. There were several questions where I didn’t know exactly what they wanted from me, because I think they were trying to get me to quote something directly from the webinar. I knew the system well enough that I was able to get the questions answered, but would have felt more confident if I just knew what they wanted.
  2. Don’t be afraid to go quickly double check things in your own Dubsado account, or in help articles. There’s nothing that says you can’t do this. Rest assured that checking on something IN Dubsado doesn’t mean that you aren’t qualified to be a Dubsado Certified Specialist. There are some questions they asked that you don’t NEED to be able to remember in order to do this job, as long as you know how to *check* the information..
  3. Be as descriptive as possible in your essay questions, you can’t overshare. Think of that day in middle school when your science teacher asked you to describe making a PBJ and you totally messed up. Describe the PBJ in a way that will make your science teacher proud.
  4. It took me about 45 minutes to get all the way through the questions, then another 15 minutes of going back to a few to double check my answers and making sure I was ready to submit. You have a total of 90 minutes to take it, so I figured sharing my timing would be some kind of helpful.
  5. You do NOT need to take the Advanced course in order to pass the exam. The Advanced Course is more about workarounds and general interpretations of certain actions in Dubsado, rather than the MECHANICS that the exam wants to verify that you know.

If you’ve taken the exam, I’d love for you to comment any other advice you have! If you haven’t taken it yet, what do you want to know?
